Jamie had fevers all through Wednesday night and into Thursday, October 22nd. 10am The team of doctors were loading theirselves one by one into Jamie's hospital room. Dr. C explained to us that because Jamie continued to spike fevers and although he felt good through the day, the evening and night showed us that he could really use another treatment of IVIG to really knock the incomplete
Kawasaki Disease out.
I was so happy he was calling it Kawasaki Disease even though the first treatment didnt help as much as we hoped...I was relieved to have an answer to why my baby was so sick, and this treatment will work!
I told Dr. C about Jamies new peeling I noticed on his lips and genitals. Dr. C explained that these were the last few symptoms they needed to completely identify that he was a Kawasaki kid, even though they had began treatment.
Dr. C informed us that unfortunately because the first treatment didnt work, it was likely that the vessels throughout Jamie's body were still dilated which could be continuing the damage to his heart. Jesse and I immediately asked what questions popped into our heads but once again Dr. C told us his main concern was treating him and cardiology would go over his echo with us, but there was heart damage. I instantly became weak...what type of heart damage? But my questions were answered with "its best to discuss with cardiology mrs jones"
They also wanted a repeat echocardiogram to see the heart since the first IVIG didnt work.
2:30pm that day the nurses came in with Jamies second treatment of IVIG.
The treatment ended at 2:30am and our 36 hour wait began, and we were all praying for no fevers! If this treatment was successful we could go home and all would be right with everything again!! Jamie would be getting better and this heart damage can be controlled- if it was serious they would have given us more information, right?
Jamie did great through the treatment and rested well into Friday morning, in fact we all did...It was the best couple hours of sleep I had in 2 weeks, my baby was going to be feeling better in a matter of days! Yay!
